Unhappy Intermitent missfire?

I could really use some help figuring this one out. First a little history, I bought my 01 F150 Supercrew used in 04 with about 40,000 miles on it. Within a month I had the dealer replace two coil packs, truck was running terrible. About Six months later had to replace two more and this time i had them raplace the plugs also, all under warranty. Since then teh trcuk has run great, no probelms until a few months ago. We took a trip to south Louisiana and on the way back the truck started miss firing again, just a little. Figured I got some bad gas it got worse the farther we went refueled trying to thin out the "bad gas". Got home changed the fuel filter and it ran great for a week. Replaced the fuel filter again ran great for about a month. Now the problem i have is it will run great for weeks and then run really bad for a day or two or a week then it will clear up and then back to rumnning bad. If a coil pack goes bad wouldnt it just stop working period. I have heard a lot of bad things about these coil packs. I have a hard time believing that they can work intermitently like that. Any help would be a blessing at this point. thanks

motor? mileage? CEL? does it happen when its wet outside? ever been tuned up?
as for the coil packs or coil on plugs, when they are fried they wont work, but if they get a little wet then they may work and they may not. but they can also get weak.

intermitent missfire?

Sorry about that, 4.6L, coil on plug, 125,000 miles, as far as tune up is concerned, plugs were changed about 50,000 miles ago but all routine maintenance is on schedule. the last time it ran rough was this past saturday and it had rained that morning. are they that sensitive to moisture?

Yes the are that moisture sensitive. If it were me I would get on E-bay and buy some coils then I would buy some motorcaft spark plugs and a big thing of dielectric grease and I'd spend a day installing them. Or you could take it to the dealer and have them install the parts. That would also save you hundreds of dollars. Probably the last time they didnt use dielectric grease and thats why your failing prematurely. Its not an expensive deal if you do it yourself -$150 if you have the dealer put the parts on add about $200 to that. If you buy the parts at the dealer and all expect an $800 bill..

No, get a set of cops off Ebay from Global or Uneek for under $100 for all 8. In fact, get the V-10 kit so you have 2 spares.

My 01 with 70,000 is also having some type of misfire issue. It will run great for about an hour or so of running. Once I have made several stops and turn the engine off and on several time after that, I get the misfire. The misfire is at around 1500-1700 rpm. Will continue to misfire until the engine is totally cold again, usually the next day, and will do the same thing over again. It is the #2 cylinder misfiring. Not sure what is causing it but I am doing a complete plug and coil change on all 8 tomorrow and hopefully it will solve my problem. Im just hoping there is no fluid inside the cylinder when I look. Everything looks dry and dirty around the top.

2ND, If you p^ss on a plug, make sure you get video, I'll make millions on Youtube and TV with the video. I'm claiming exclusive rights, right now.
