This is what I was going to type in the previous post to have you look up the Gunk website.

PRODUCT LIMITATIONS: Overuse can result in excess dirt buildup and transfer to other contacted
surfaces. Highly recommended for serpentine belts, Especially Ford F150's owned in Michigan Alright, too lazy to go have a smoke so I googled it for you. Should I throw my Serp belt out now.

I wonder if you would of looked it up without the "Especially Ford part" and how long before I got a PM from you.

By the way, nice pic's of the 4x4 accuator. You should start a new thread with the "How To" and those pic's. Looks Great and thanks for the added info about using a hand vacuum pump to actuate, and then check for proper engagement. That will be helpful in the future. It beats turning the truck on, engaging it, turning the truck off, jumping out and then checking. Look at all the steps you removed. I am guessing that the Dealership probably does it that way, if not, give Ford a call.

Nice Job !

Thanks. They don't pay me enough to do "How To's" here - Otherwise, I'm to lazy I guess. But I'll post up what I have done or pass on links when others ask for them.

I just hope I have the lines hooked up to the right port - I freakin couldn't remember what went were down there. I hope this is right -

Good info tho, I wouldn't want to give other members incorrect info and cause a problem or failure on their vehicles. What advice do you have for chirping / squeeking if all the pully's are tight and no wobble or play in the bearing's and you install a new belt. I have gotten away with using Gunk and causing no problems as long as the above info has been checked and completed 1st.

You have the pink and blue lines right. I can jump under my truck real quick if you want. I took a pic of mine before I tore it down so I didn't get them crossed up. I just looked in my "auto" photo album, it's not there so I probably deleted it from my dig-camera. Won't do that again. Let me know.

Tensioner first. All my new pulleys wobble a little. My old ones don't! They are just noisy as hell. Wobbling needs to be reconsidered here. - That doesn't mean they are bad, excessive is bad - so is too tight.

Well , if you get a chance - No hurry, I still have a ways to go. But I thought I had them connected opposite of the diagram.

Yea Pink and blue -

That is wrong ^^^ going by the diagram. So I switched them back around. - Light Blue to inside/ Pink to outside.

Great Thanks!! Alright, go boof one and I'll talk to yuh tomorrow.

BTW - Tomorrow is in 15 minutes here

Hey, a pretty cool dude sent me some info and said -

That's the same diagram that confused me until I figured out FORD has their line colors reversed going to the actuator. The line going to the plunger side of the actuator is Pink, as is shown in some of your other photos.

So yea, I guess the diagram is wrong. I'll swap them back around. You don't have to crawl under there if you don't want to..

Didn't want to see you pull your hair out like I did. I thought surely FORD wouldn't make a mistake like that diagram..............they did! But I had a bad vacuum solenoid too so that really messed with me.

Yea thanks for that. Starting to recall why I questioned it in the first place. Like I said to you earlier, I vaguely remember someone else having the same problem.

Another guy that has a 97, I think he's a tech (?), at one time I had a link to his online gallery of pics and diagrams. He had two vacuum diagrams of the 4WD system- One was the wrong one and it said so and the other was right. I didn't pay to much attention to the difference's, - it was about the routing, I can recall that much.

Wish I still had his link darnet, there was quit a bit of good info in his gallery.

You mean like:

I should have changed the labels on the solenoids too.
....."the blue line should have vacuum on it when it's in 4WD and the pink line should when it's in 2WD"

I believe it a link to my photobucket, haven't created a gallery here. Lot of other stuff in there now before you get to the 4wd stuff.
Check out the latest ........ when 3 ring gear bolts fell out.
