thats exactly what mine did when my fuel filter went to *****...try that, $15 bucks, and while you are at it get the cheap plastic tool for fuel line removal, they are less then $10 anywhere.

Only fools rush in...

So I went to start my truck last night and when the odometer flashed it came up with all center dashes?????? The engine turned over normal, but no start. I don't know if this is relevant yet but I kept turning key to on(run) position and eventually the odometer came up with a reading and it started. Infact, it started very easily, no problems. I live in Texas and my truck has been through 5 winters here without any problems. So I wonder; Is someting sticking? Is there a "cold start system" for these engines? What sensors could be adversly affected by colder temps?
While staring at a wiring diagram tracing circuits there is a fuse to the PCM relay and a "Passive Anti-theft Transceiver"...how do you trouble-shoot that? and what does it do? The same fuse powers the cluster, ign. coils, COPS (aren't they the same), radio noise capacitor and the ECC diode(what's that?). I don't think its a fuse b/c everything is fine once the odom has a reading. How do you check a relay without having one to switch with? Am stuck at home only vehicle. Live far from Auto Parts store and can make one trip while bummin' rides.

I would check the battery. These trucks sometimes do some strange things with the gauges when the battery is going bad.

Get it charged and tested, and get the charging system tested too.

For anyone interested...

My issue ended up being an intermittent PCM relay.
