u can use the regular green motorcraft antifreeze and it will be fine, unless it was already previously filled with the gold stuff

just put one gallon onf antifreeze in, then one gallon of water and see how much that fills it

then just fill it the rest of the way full with even amounts of water and antifreeze

just make sure you start it up and let it warm up and open the thermostat

I would only use Motorcraft from the dealer, as there are several different formulations that are matched to the specific year of the truck. I was told by the parts guy at my dealer that there was only one correct blend for my truck. If it save the heater core for another year, I for it.

Sorry, I don't have a bottle here to check. It may not be the same from 98-02, that is what I tried to say. It is safest to go the dealer to get the exact one specified for your truck.

Im not an antifreeze expert but I'm sure any name brand green antifreeze would work just fine. I know my 01 has green in it. I heard that GM used some orange stuff in the late 90's early 00's vehicles that ate away at the gaskets causing failures so shops were telling people to switch to green. I used Prestone when I changed my 97 a few years ago and never had any problems. Like I said Im no expert so if someone knows if there is a secret antifreeze to get please chirp in. I will be changing my 01's coolant in a month or two.

If you use anything but the OEM coolant, you need to completely flush the system.

I work at a chemical plant that make's antifreeze and brake fluid. The antifreeze's we make are pretty much the same thing if the two color's are the same. I wouldn't reccomend using two different color's though as their are difference's. The same applies for brake fluid. Buy a bottle of O'reilly dot-3 brake fluid and a bottle of Havoline Dot-3 their both the same fluid just different bottle's,brand's and price's.
