Cool-air intake
Please, do some reading in the Intake section. You will see that the 2004s and early 2005s run the risk of running lean with a CAI unless you couple it with a custom tune. In addition, you get small gain with just a CAI. It needs an exhaust to expell the extra flow, if you don't already have it and it needs a custom tune to properly mix fuel and air.
If you do a CAI alone, your talking maybe 10 hp. To me, just not worth the risk. Mostly, you just get more noise as you no longer have the silencers. If you get an exhaust and tune with the CAI, you get 35 to 40 hp and it's awesome. Plus, you get better shifting.

I have the Banks CAI and ran it for several thousand miles before getting the tune. I didn't notice too much of a difference in both performance as well as mileage. I had high expectations with it considering the cost but once I got the tunes I couldn't be happier. In my mind it's worth getting the two at the same time.
i have a K&N on my 93. i cant say i gained anything but it made the exhaust sound alot better which caused me to have a heavier foot, and fuel mileage stayed the same so i know its helping a little bit there. but as bluejay said you would need a tuner for yours.
Just installed mine lastnight.. Haven't had a chance to drive it.. Do I need to rest the computer or anything after I done this???? If so how do I go about doing this??? I have a 2001 Ford F-150 Thanks

for your truck all you need to do is install it then you can drive it. its the 04+(non-heritage) trucks that need a tuner.

it either wont make a difference at all or it'll run lean without a tuner. and you dont want it to run lean because thats when the engine can fall apart. and you dont want to waste your money. i'd get a tuner because they give better fuel mileage too along with more power and then you can get the cai later on.
Off topic, my applogies. What kind of bike you have there Dexx??? Man, that's depressing me with the snow flying tonight. I finally came to the conclusion on the weekend it was past time to get mine winterized. Wish it was riding season again.

I put a Air Force One cai on my truck and ran it for several months before I made the tuner jump. I bought it from Troyer Performance and they told me as long as I'm running the 3" cai (tube size) that I wouldn't have to worry about a lean condition. Now if I had gone w/the 3.5" (or larger from another manuf.) then I would probably run lean.
