2004 F-150 Starting Problems

I just bought an F150 a few months ago. I love the truck but it is now having problems starting. If it sits for a day or more, the engine tried to turn over for about 5 seconds then starts. Once it starts, all of my dash needles are bouncing for about another 5 seconds, then they all level out. I also noticed that my MPG AVG and Trip always reset when this happens as well. If I start it and then go in a store, it starts perfect when I get back to my truck. I thought it may be thew battery or computer. Any suggestions???

Thanks!!!

I cleaned the terminal off with baking soda and water. The negative had a lot of corrosion and the positive have some. It started fine last night after I did it but this morning it started fine but the needles did the same thing. They vibrate and all of them are at the bottom of their gauge but then after about 3-5 seconds, they all go normal. Do you think the wire may have been damaged with the corrosion?

Thanks!

Better replace the battery before it leaves you stranded. The gauges acting up are a bad battery symtom.

The gauges would do that if the truck drops the battery that low to attempt starting it. Thats how they reset with a new power connection. You can do this manually with other trucks i've heard. Like the FX4 or the STX. I know batteris arent cheap, but i'd replace it as soon as I could.
