What to look for...plugs

Having read many of the threads on here relating to using different plugs (and that Motorcaft is the way to go) but when the 'other' plugs go down can you actually see the problem? ie ....are the electrodes worn or damaged? Or is it an internal failing?? Cheers

dont worry about the valve noone knows for sure what happened there. just look at the plug.
ngk, denso and motorcraft are the best for the modular engines.

OK, saw that pic, but is that the norm for plugs that fail?

Not sure there is a norm. They burn off slowly, they fragment as that one did, or the porcelain might crack. Some just never run correctly. What year and what engine?

An 01 with 5.4

I'm only wondering so that if I have a problem I know what to look for.

Cheers

Plugs

Just do not use Champion plugs! they will not last in an f-150. Motorcraft is the way to go! They are motorcraft/ford for a reason!
