performance advice
Hey guys this is my first post on hear. I have read alot of helpfull info on this sight. Im going to ask yalls opion on some things that im looking into doing on my truck that involve the motor and other things. I'll start off by telling yall what my truck has as of now. Its a 2000 f150 5.4L 4x4 with 149109 miles on it. I have a 6" lift on it and im running 35" tires. It has 456 gears, a superchip programmer, airaid cai, araid throttle body spacer, and 2.5" true dual flow exhaust with some type of flowmaster mufflers. Im not sure what type of flows they are but all i can tell you is there only about 6'' long. Im thinking about putting some new headers on it but not sure weather to go with shorties or longs? I liked the sound of some hookers i heard on a youtube video but i cant find any pre manufactured. Im also looking into putting some after market highflow cats on it but not sure on what brand or size? Im wanting to do something similar to a msd ignition module but the only thing that i can find is some aftermarket coil on plugs and im not sure if im going to get what im realy after with these(im wanting to go from a spark to a glow like most msd modules creat that ive seen in the past). The last thing that im looking into doing is getting rid of my supper chip and getting a edge evolution. My main goil is to get a little more power out of her. start off with what you would do first. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
Short headers are worthless long tubes net 30 hp Flowmasters suck ditch the TB spacer. Ignition modifications are worthless. A custom tune with an edge or the new version of it would be good. After that you would need to start tearing your engine apart and think forced induction to see significant gains.
you just got some, long tube headers are the only way to go, flowmasters are fine, I have no issues with my flowmasters but most people lean towards the crappy sounding magnaflows, the throttle body spacer is something you need to ditch, they are worthless on the modular fords and were designed for carburated engines.
electric fans and underdrive pulleys along with a custom tune should be in your future plans
dynatech, OBX, pacesetters and kooks seem to be the popular headers on this site

Ok I have to ask this there are some many mags and shops using throttle body spacers with CAI's and short headers you see it over and over again ,and they even do before and after with dynos and there is a performance gain of some type might not be huge but its doing something obviously If they did not work people would not use them right ? There are many articles in Truckin about the 2005 ford f150 using all this stuff with dynos to back it up so it must work wouldent you think ? I understand the hole thing about long tubes and shorts I really do but the bottom line is it comes down to what the person wants to put it there truck right its there money is it not ?
