im like you noz im scared to touch them.. mine has 62k and i have extended warranty also...

I have a 1999 4.6l but I changed plugs, wires, and coil packs in about 1 hour. If you have the tools and a little know how then it's not really that hard. I had about 50k on the truck and the plugs didn't look that great but I can say I didn't really notice much difference with the new items.
