Cold Weather Start

Greetings, since the weather has gotten a bit colder, my 1998 4.6 F150 4X4 does not like to start and stay running. Today, it would start but if I took my foot out of the accelerator it would die. If I pushed in the clutch, it would die. Having no other vehicle I attempted to drive to work anyway...and about 5-7 minutes down the road, it drove fine. This is a new one for me, so if anyone has a suggestion(s) I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Tim

hmm...can you explain just a bit more? I do not know what cel is...or what an iac may be...all I know is when I start it, it does not like to stay running. It doesn't do it all the time, just randomly in the morning.

What engine? probably not a 5.4 because they dont come with manuals. 4.6 or v6? A clogged fuel filter can do what your describing. If you have never replaced it thats where I'd start. Then IAC and tune up..

Engine

It's a 4.6 V8. I have not replaced the fuel filter yet. I will start there...probably would be good for me to just do to a whole tune-up. Still, what is an iac?? I have no idea.

Thanks,

Tim

Idle air control. located on the back of the throttle body.
