5.4 SC help!!!
i got an 02 lightning with the 5.4 supercharged it is the 3v not the 2v prior to the 02 models well anyway the service engine light keeps comin on after a day or two and it says system too lean what could be causing this i have no vaccum line leaks ive checked with carb cleaner at idle and it didnt idle up at all the ford dealer thought it could be that and they said the injectors need cleanin but there new injectors what is it if ford scanned it and dont know what it is i think they just wanted to get the 450 bucks outta me any help is appreciated guys thanks
hmm, first thing i dont understand right now is how you have a OEM 02 lighting with a 3v? i just flat dont remember seeing one of those?
how many in" of vac you pulling at idle? do a 1 hr test to just see if it even holds vac for that timeframe. i chose 1 hr myself because its easier to walk off and do something else for an hour, and gives enough time to see that maybe there is a leak

that guy on ebay selling his supercharger off of an '03 harley truck that had 3 valves since he is good at math and counted them, I wonder why no one actually owns a 3 valve lightning with that engine in it from the factory
I was watching that guys auction,,,he never did sell that thing! He had it listed 2 times,,trying to get 1600 out of it.

First time it went to a little over 1000.Second time only went to 810.

well i dont know what to say to all of that lemme start with the o2 sensors its not them when ford scanned the system they woulda known if it was them i was thinkin that tho also in the first place but that got ruled out yes it does have a stock intake with the direct replacement k&n filter what do i clean the MAF with and what do i look for on the temp sensor at idle im pullin about 20in of vaccum i havent really looked at it that close to see exactly what it is but i know its around 20 ill check today i know its not leakin cus i used a whole can of carb cleaner on every vaccum line i seen and some starting fluid on the ones i suspected of leakin but nothin happened and now as for the 2v and 3v debate in 99 when the lightning came out they used the old 5.4l that had 2v per cylinder and also had 4 threads on the spark plugs well they were havin alot of problems with people blowin spark plugs out the head cus it wasnt held in enough and if you look the 99 lightning came stock with 360 hp now you look at the later models lets say an 04 it has 380 stock so where did they get the 20 extra hp ill tell you sometime in 01 or 02 not exactly sure but ford changed the 5.4 so solve the spark plug problem and they wanted to squeaze a little more into it so they added another intake valve which makes them the 3v heads so now they made 20 extra hp on the lightnings and they had 8 threads on the spark plugs does that make sense to anyone or am i just talkin out my *** lol so if you got a 5.4 prior to 01ish you got the 2v heads and the weak spark plugs and they could blow out at any time ive heard of so many accounts like that happenin if it happens you have to get a heli coil put in place to hold it in and its not cheap unless you do it yourself but anyway back to my problem there was a guy with a cobra mustang said he had the same problem as me and he changed the EGR valve would that be it anyway thanks guys but i still need more ideas on what it is
actually here is the site you can see the hp difference between 2000 and 2001 http://www.fordf150.net/specs/engines.php

Oh,,by the way.Sorry I cant help with your problem.
But maybe I can teach you something.

The better heads with more threads in them didn't come out till late 03!
The difference in HP was from a better intake manifold and better tuning. That's where they got the 20 HP from.
No stock 99 to 04 Lightning ever had a 3V head!
