Excellent motor

My father in law purchased a club wagon van last year. It comes with the three speed and a tow package. That motor is a HOSS let me tell you. It will have no problem pulling a house down and that is pretty incredible for a gasser. I don't know about modding it and what not but for a daily driver that you need to work it is a beast. My step father had a flatbed with a 10 foot wench on it and it had a 460. I can't remember what size rear end was in the vehicle but it was HUGE. It also had a 4 barrel that could suck some gas when you worked her. In both cases though the motor was exceptionally smooth and burned very little oil.

the newer trucks came with a 4 speed auto or a 5 speed manual behind the 460 and it's all torque it's a great engine for a truck / hot rod

awesome motor and tranny combo. the 460 is great and for what it is it doesnt get too bad of fuel mileage. just make sure the coolant is in good condition and it'll last as long as you take care of it. the coolant is the only thing i've seen that could hurt a 460. but i've seen them ran without oil and the insides torn to shreds, you just cant killem.

I have a 460 in a 89 Mustang they're one of the easiest motors to build a big stroker motor.A 460 can be built to be a 545 cubic inch engine with a stock 460 block. It will also bolt together like a 460 no grinding on the block with a steel rod is needed. Here is the best website around for 460's i spend alot of time every night here www.460ford.com

Later Mark.
