I would look into the vaccum lines, sounds like a possibility.

Get the code read , find out what cylinder it is - swap the coil with one of you old Motorcrafts. Bet that fixes it. You gottuh leave Saturday right? - That's what I would do real quick. Any coil can go out on yuh - new or old.

well i got it read. mis-fire on number 4. but it ran fine this morning. put it on the scanner and watched it fire. wouldnt miss. cleared the code. and i went home and put some dielectric grease in the connectors. it was sittin for about 36 hours or so and it had rained alot. alota moisture in the air. so we figured some just got into the plug. so im gonna drive to georgia and hope it dont screw up again. forgot to grab a couple C.O.Ps when i was at the shed today. crap! shoulda grabbed a couple to take with. oh well.

I don't know about your 98 , but when #4 misfires in mine, it sounds like the engines is at an end. It bangs pretty hard for some reason without 4.

Geezz, that's the worst one to be screwing with on the road - I would change it. So get up about 15 minutes early and like FRod says -

"GITTERDONE!"

No kidden tho - When they start fowling like that, even temporarily do to moisture or whatnot, - Their never the same again.. Hope you make the trip, good luck.

four is the back right correct? i may have to make a point to go change real fast in the morning. or at least bring a couple coils and enough tools to get it done. i think ima have to do that and cross my fingers. i may just play the its a bad coil when i get home and try and get global to replace it. but your right about number 4 fer sure. felt like it was gonna rip the damn engine apart. ive got a good place to stop tomorrow about 5 hours into the trip. if its gonna give me trouble itll do it before then and i can change it there. so hopefully all goes well. ill report in when i get there. talk to you all later. thanks for the quick help guys
