oil on the plug?

i have a 97 f150 2wd with a 4.6 in it. it has about 180,000 and i am getting oil draining down in to the #4 cylinder. they said at autozone it is probably the head gasket. but i dont seem to have any coolent in the oil. any ideas whats going on and what a quick fix would be. i need to drive from michigan to boston and then i can do the right fix i just need a quick fix for now..

The quick fix is bring some spare plugs and tools with you on the trip.

i think the early 4.6 and 5.4 had issues where oil would seep through the gasket. internally and externally. what exactly are you worried about? the oil or the spark plug?

both and then the motor. i am going to change the oil before i go. i can pull the plug and clean it and that takes care of that part of the problem.

i cant see it leaking too much through the head gasket(if its the head gasket), so i would just see how much has leaked since the oil change and if it didnt leak much just drive it. or take a couple quarts with you if you want.

ok after a daylight look i found that it isnt oil it is coolent that has run through some muddy crap so it looks like oil. the plug hole is filling up enough to ground the plug wire and make a hell of a mess of said wire. so i replaced the wire and filled it with the goop they make u buy at the zone and it seems to be working.
