1994 F150 leaking oil at bottom of dipstick

So far as I can tell, oil is leaking that the bottom of the dipstick on my 1994 F150. I could smell smoke burning a couple of days ago but thought that my be residual oil burning after I had the valve cover gasket replaced. So, I sprayed it with Engine Brite and it seemed to clean up well. When I checked the oil tonight, I noticed that the dipstick tube seemed very loose. What am I looking at in order to stop the oil leaking where the dipstick tube enters the block or pan (not sure which)?

Sounds like your dipstick tube has rusted through.
Probably need to replace the tube with a new one.

Dip sticks can be a PITA to R & R. Me I would try sealing it with silicone and if that didnt work I'd use an epoxy like bond and weld. They press in and if rusted it could break and need to be drilled out then there is getting it back in without beanding it or breaking it. I've used Bond and weld on oil pan holes and it held for years. Just make sure the surface is clean.

ok, so i'll just go pick up a new dip stick, to make sure it won't be a rusted one getting siliconed in. Any idea how much a new dip stick tube runs for?
