water pump stuck: triton

Trying to remove the water pump on my 2001 5.4 L, and it is stuck.

Any tips to removing it?

The four bolts came out fine, but the beast is frozen, and I can't figure how or where to get a clean shot to pry or wedge it off.

Hardly a jerk.

Yeah, the fan is off.

Certainly not a newbie.

I am following the instructions in the Chilton manual, and it says to remove the four bolts then take the pump off.

The bolts came off, but the pump is frozen on there.

I whacked on it with a soft hammer, and it won't detach.

Looking at the diagram, I suspect the O ring is the culprit.

Soaking it overnight in PB Blaster, then go at it again.

Yeah, sorry I won't follow your instructions and use your inserts, JBrew, I am doing it the old school way: get over it.

I've rebuilt engines before, I KNOW the water pump will come off, just asking for a bit of advice from those who've dealt with this engine before.

FWIW, I've posted for years on other mechanical sites and never once have I been flamed.

Now, can somebody who actually knows about these things please answer the question?

.

Mr.V- You have used, abused and insulted one of the most knowledgable and ready to help members of this forum, whether you think so or not. You know so much about it, it would probably be better if you figured it out yourself. You catch a lot more of whatever you want to catch with honey than vinegar.

What the hell are you talking about jerk! I sent you what you freakin kept emailing about. I could care less about serts you moron.

You wanted the head removal procedure from Ford and kept emailing me after I offered, without giving me a chance to get it out to you. - I finally sent you two procedures from the service DVD's + A useful link. Nothing to do with time serts whatsoever.

All I asked afterwards is if you would acknowledge that you got them. Man, you really are some kind of jerk . Sorry I wasted my time sending what you asked for you - BUZZ OFF!

Jeez, much drama. Concerning the water pump... use a bigger hammer.
It ain't gonna come out real easy. It's got a o-ring on it and it's a tight fit.

I sent you one follow up email asking you to send the info, because I wasn't certain that the original email I sent to you, using the private email server on this board, had gotten through: it showed no confirmation showing you'd received it.

I then sent you an acknowledging email after you sent the info, thanking you for sending me the data and link.

Now, have you (or anybody else) got a suggestion as to how to remove a frozen water pump?

Hell, I just asked for conformation in his other thread.

Sometimes when I send info from the service DVD , the receiver gets the info without the diagrams. If that were the case, I send in another format, PDF or put it online if they can't get it to open right.

Why he couldn't just answer or confirm is beyond me. I'll be allot more selective who I help from now on.

This guys got his bling on too tight.

First I smacked it with a soft headed hammer, then with a block of wood (1x2) and a hand sledge.

The thought was not to beat on the end of it, which would allow the most leverage, because that would destroy the bearing / shaft interface.

Ah well, assuming it is just a frozen O ring and that it is fair play to beat the hell out of it, I'll remove it in short order.

Could of done that in the first place, but hoped there was another way.

BTW, I haven't really argued with that internet nut case...yet.
