Looking fora new ride

Due to new load requierments, I need a newer vehicle, something like a F-350 with a Diesel. My question is this, which is better, the 6 or the 7.3? Everyone thinks what they have is best, but what is the real deal? What are some common things I could easily see that should steer me away from a Diesel and keep looking for another one?

early build 6.0's had a LOT of problems, the 03-04. What ever you end up with make sure you get a full set of gauges. Pyrometer, trans temp, and fuel pressure at the least.

If you are in Vancouver and are truck hunting, take a serious look @ Repo Depot. I have seen some crazy deals, and I don't think you are any worse off if you have a good look over the truck before you get it. I heard that the '05 and new 6.0's are more durable then the previous years. But if you can find a 7.3 that's in good shape go for it. The '05 and newer SD's have a lot of improvements, frame change is a big one. If you want anyone to have a look at a truck with you, send me a PM, a second opinion never hurts!

get a 7.3 truck, upgrade to a factory 6.0 innercooler add a cold air intake and a good free flowing exhaust and a tuner and you'll be real happy

as said before go for the 7.3 if you can. i reccommend you get a standard tranny though.
1) the 7.3 only had the e40d/4r100 which wasnt a great tranny for ford
2) its alot more fun to drive
3) you'll be set for the life of the truck
