2004 5.4L oil loss

I have a 2004 f150 with the 5.4L in it and it seems to be "using" oil. I don't notice it burning any, no leaks, no oil in the coolant. When I change the oil after about 5,000 miles I only get about 5 quarts out of it. The truck only has 50,000 miles on it. Any ideas? Is this "normal" for these engines?
Thanks

Where is it on the dipstick before you change it? That's the only way to gauge oil consumption - by watching the dipstick. Don't you check your oil periodically? Do you add any between changes?

1 quart in 5000 miles isnt unusual nor is it cause for concern. You truck likes it for a snack. That is all.

It's 2 quarts in 5000. 04 up 3v 5.4s use 7 quarts.

Check to see if the PCV valve is okay and the tubing isn'y kinked or broken.

It may hold 7 quarts, but that includes the filter. You can't just measure what comes out of the pan.
