F150 Start Problem....
Recently I purchased an 03 F150 4.2L 4x4 for $500 from a friend that had rolled it on its side two years ago had only 20000 miles on it. Ive already got the body work done (under $500 bucks wohoo) but I do have a starting problem. It turns over, gets spark, and has 27 psi at the fuel rail, just dosnt seem to get the fule from injectores. Also the last two years the passenger side winshield has had a hole in it(while it sat in the rain) My guess is PCM (its on Pass kick pannel) I checked the relays they are good. Any other sugestions???
Ive bought a used PCM I'll find out soon but how much is it to get reprogramed???
To answer the obviouse question he had no insurance and no where to work on it...

brad, mine won't start either and hopefully you won't have to go through what i did/am still.27 psi @ the fuel rail sounds low, if you have a book for it [necessary] look up the specs. my 94 4.9 L says 50- 60 good luck and chek back
if you are using a fuel pressure gauge off the fuel rail schrader valve it's my understanding that when the pump kicks in, it should be the spec that the book says, with out bleed off for 1/2 hr, KOEO.if you have bleed off then there is a leak in a fuel line somewhere. no gas smell/obvious leaks? it's in the intank pump,or the injectors not holding pressure. as you drive and put your foot into it the electronics adjust for more fuel delivery but not the pressure. i may be totally way off base here. read the book and understand how the fuel gets there and what components affect it, 1st off i'd replace the fuel filter. they are either "duckbill" or "hairpin" clips that hold the lines to the fuel filter.although fuel injection cleaner will not boost your pressure after the fuel filter replacement it's not a bad idea. you'll be reading my posts sometime soon about my fuel problem w/ my 86 f250
Simple things first. If you suspect the PCM remove it and inspect the connector. Open the box and look for water damage. You will need it any way to order a replacement PCM. Check all the related fuses. Make sure all the connectors are corrosion free and properly seated.
To check for current to the injectors you will need a noid light. You connect it to the injector harness to see if it lights up when the injectors are fired. You could also have a PATS issue. What does the theft light do when the key is removed? Does it blink rapidly when you crank over the engine?

emergency fuel shutoff?
This is just a guess but check and see if the truck has an emergency fuel shutoff. My uncle rolled his '86 Ranger years ago and when we got it back on its wheels (not a lot of damage luckily) it would turn over and over, but not start. We eventually figured out that when the truck rolled it triggered an emergency fuel shutoff. Once we reset the fuel shutoff switch it started right up. This may not be the issue as a lot has changed from '86 to '03, and it's a different model, but I'd check it out before you do/buy anything major. Good luck.
I pulled the injectors and they ohmed out good also checked volts on the plugs they were good. The security flashes steadily when trying to crank...PATS issue??????????????
Nothing in the manuel talks about PATS... but the light is blinking during crank!

...also I replaced the fuel filter today there seems to only be 20 psi at the fuel rail now...thinking about a shot in the dark, and replacing fuel pump???
but I want to see if its a PATS problem first??
Does the PATS disable the pump???
