It's not my 08 F150 though, its the wifes 08 Escape. I really need to know if there is a way to make these Ford's tell me what the code is. Is there a key dance or something I can do to pull the code? The CEL is on.
She wants to drive my truck to work tomorrow and I'd rather carry her to work than let her drive my truck.

 

just take it to autozone. they'll scan it for free. and if you cant today then cut out the muffler so she cant handle the noise. dual exhaust kept my ex girlfriend out of my truck

 

You need the scan tool. You could get it read at auto zone. Thats the only way.

 

An 08 ought to be on warranty - get it to the dealer. If you have it scanned elsewhere, do NOT let them clear the codes.

 

..and before you potentially waste a trip to AZ, call them and ask them if their scanners are CAN-capable.
