2001 Ford 4.2L V6 camshaft synchronizer
Received error code for misfire on cylinder 1(P0301), replaced spark plugs and wires with Motorcraft parts. Received error code P0340 (Camshaft position sensor A - Bank 1 Circuit Malfunction), replaced camshaft position sensor. Again (50+ miles) received error code P0340. Bought new Sychronizer w new sensor and allignment tool. Put a compression guage on cylinder 1 till I thought I was at TDC. Marked on engine camshaft sychronizer housing position of old sychronizer. Removed synch and installed new synch and sensor making sure it alligned with my markings which also were at 54 degrees as manual states. Reassembled everything and drove for 5 miles received error code P1390. Misfire Monitor hardware malfunction. Obviously I did not get TDC correct. Is there some easier way to do this?

That makes sense since the Ford manual states when assembling pistons crankshaft and camshaft All timing marks must be alligned vertically with the number 1 piston at TDC. Crankshaft must not be turned until camshaft synchronizer is installed. But under engine ignition system it states the ignition system is set at 10 degrees BTDC and it is not adjustable. Therefore I will try alligning this tooth at TDC (12 o'clock) hope it works, thanks for responding
