I have a 2000 f150 w/218000 mi on it leaving work yesterday it started making this tapping/knocking sound and it felt like it was not getting enough gas. I had to constantly give it gas to keep it running, by the time I got home the sound was even louder. Had a mechanic listen to the sound he said it sounds like a rocker arm problem but couldn't say for sure. The earliest they said they could look at it is this thrusday. It seems to shift through all the gears with no problem but boy does the truck shake and sputter any thoughts. I really need to go back to work.

 

Park it till they can look at it and rent or borrow a car. The more you drive it like that, the more likely you are damaging it worse by the minute.

 

Possible spark plug ejection?

 

One loose plug shouldn't cause it to run that rough, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to check them.

 

Not a loose plug some people have had the threads in the head fail and the plug blows out.

 

Right, but it makes noises before it blows.
