Question ScanTool TPS shows 17% idle, 75% floored?

05 Expedition 5.4 3V, 66k miles, recently had a forum thread on multiple codes from bad fuel issues:
https://www.f150online.com/forums/en...lp-please.html
Ran fine a few days but now I am getting P0430 (cat efficiency) intermittently.

While diagnosing I noticed that the TPS showed 17% with my foot completly off the throttle pedal. Pedal to floor the TPS was only 75%. If I let my foot slip off the throttle it would bounce down to 11% but return immediately to 17%. Drove it awhile and same numbers while driving.

I searched the threads and never saw anyone mention their TPS readouts from a scan tool. I'm guessing TPS should range from under 5% to above 95%?

If so, can that be adjusted and how is that done, or does it require a new TPS? If a new sensor is needed, any recommendations?

Found one thread that said to slowly depress pedal, hold for 5 seconds, and slowly release - no change in TPS readouts at all despite repeated attempts and longer hold times.

Thanks!

Hmmm - so is that okay, or do we both have a problem?

Those are typical values. They are not a problem.

you need a catalytic converter.

Before you go throwing a new CAT in there , take it to your local (trustworthy) muffler shop and have a CAT flow/pressure test done.
I assumed that I had a CAT problem once, took it to my local Cole Muffler shop and they tested it for me for free.
Everything was fine from the test.
I changed a Bank 2 O2 sensor, and have had no CEL since.

A cat flow/pressure test is irrelevant. It's not plugged or restricted, it's been contaminated by excessive fuel (due to the misfire and/or faulty O2 sensor)and has lost its capability to store oxygen.

This ain't a Jeep. Downstream O2 sensors rarely, if ever cause efficiency codes.

The truck is still under its federally mandated emissions warranty. The converter should be replaced at no cost (just like a good portion of your previous repair efforts should have been) under the warranty.
