Engine hesitating or missing 2003 Supercrew

Just started yesterday on my 2003 F150 Supercrew 4.6L with 86,000 miles. At highway speeds you can feel a surge or a hesitation in the engine sorta like a misfire or starving for gas feeling. The truck runs OK but you can definitely feel it when driving that something is not running right. Then today on way to work "check engine" blinked on and off. Any ideas what this could be.

Go to Autozone and get the codes read, it's free. With 86k, if the spark plugs are original, it's about time to replace them. You also may have some weak cops (coils).

Replace plugs with OEM Motorcrafts, and if you buy cops, get a full set from Global on Ebay.

Stopped by Advanced Auto Parts on way home yesterday. Did a free code check and came back with a "Misfire on #1 cylinder" reading code. I replaced w/ a new $3 Motorcraft spark plug and the $40 coil pack. It runs great again. Dealer probably would have charged an arm and a leg and it prob. took me 10 minutes to fix. Thanks for the replies guys and fuel filter is next thing to change on my list.

You *should* have changed all the plugs. Odds are, you will be doing it soon anyway.

A full set of cops (coil packs) from Global on Ebay is about 80 bucks.

Already bought the other 7 plugs. Just a quick fix trying to resolve the issue.
