oil in the radiator

1997 f-150 with a motor mount oil cooler, well there is oil in the radiator. No loss of power, no smoke and no over heating. I was told by a diesel mechanic that the head gasket might have a small leak and because oil is being pumped at 20 psi or so there fore it could be that.

it would go bothways probably. I would have a pressure test done on the cooling system but the only way oil could get in there is from the head gasget unless some one put it in there.

From my experience i would definitely have to say head gasket. Cant be 100% without being there though.

Sorry for the bad news,

are you certain its oil? my automatic transmission cooler is contained inside the radiator and it developed a slight leak and it looked like oil in my coolant but turned out to be tranny fluid...dropped in a new radiator and no problems since.

The engine oil cooler? no that separate. The tranny oil cooler shares the radiator. It could be possible thats where the oil is coming from as you would likely have water in your oil if it were a head gasket.

it has two hoses going to the radiator from the engine mounted oil cooler where the oil filter screws on
