6.8 liter Questions

I'm thinking of getting a 2003 F-250 and cant find numbers for the engine options. Especially gas mileage. I would like the V-10 but price talks.
Does anyone have the engine specs for 2003 f-250?

I used the search function

it makes like 310-315 hp and around 425 tq,

My '01 F-250 had 3.73 gears and a 5 speed, if I had to do it again I would have gone for the 6 speed. The 6.8 was a great engine and is still going strong, the guy i sold it to loves it and doesn't plan on ever letting it go. it was great letting it idle off the clutch without any gas pedal.

don't expect super mileage but driven accordingly it will do your right

What did you experience as fas as gas mileage? My F-150 with a 4.6 and 34's gets any where from 12-17 giv or take. I drive a 2003 5.4 F-250 at work put it doesnt have any pep at all. Gas mileage is about the same as my daily driver though.

I was getting around 17mpg with mixed driving and I am not that esy on teh throttle. It got better mileage loaded than my mom's 2 wheel drive ranger did.

as soon as I get back to the 'States I'll get another F-250 with a 6.8 and 6 speed (not a fan of automatics) My wife hates the sound/smell of the diesels and the 5.4 superdutys are gutless so the 6.8 is a great compromise

Thanks T
I will be light horse trailer towing duty, but i really need is the space of a 4 door supercrew F-250. I figure i'll save 30-40 cents a gallon with the V-10 over the diesel. I will need the auto though my wife cant drive manuals.
When are getting back in CONUS.

I pulled a 2 horse Hale and a 4 horse Logan with mine and it never seemed to struggle only thing I wanted for it was a turbo and stacks just to anger the diesel folks

it was nice and quiet never had to worry about the horses going deaf on the hills. It climbed east out of albuquerque on I-40 loaded in 5th gear all the way

I dunno when I am getting back eventually I will though

I would have expected a few more horses then what it really produces. The torque is what I thought it would be though.

14 MPG on a good day for an automatic. And that's on the highway.
