I may already know the answer as I've been searching the threads, but I just wanted to get any other input that may exist. I'll tell ya what happened. I have a 01 f-150 4.6 v8 4x4 with 63k miles on it. I hopped in my truck the other night to put the boat on, threw it in reverse, and it started doing like a search idle thing. It would rev up and down enough that the truck would be moving with it. It's happened before but probably like 5-6 months before. I'm guessing IAC or throttle body needs cleaning. Any other ideas?

Throttle body cleaning and replace the IAC and your truck will run like it is new.
