looking to do a 2v to 4v engine swap in an '02 f-150. has this ever been done?

Here's the deal. I have an '02 f-150 single cab flare-side. I want to make around 400-550 horsepower. It has a 4.6l with 126,000 on it....obiously not an option. I don't want to just drop a 5.4 with a supercharger in it (although that would probably be the easiest way) for fear of trying to pose my truck off as a lighning. So I 'm thinking either a DSS 2v long block, or DSS 4v long block...but they are kinda pricy, does anyone have any REAL suggestions for me? Has anyone ever put a 4.6 4v in a truck? Let me know...

I did it, not easy!!

I did it in my 97 4x4 4.6. It's now a 4.6 DOHC soon to be a supercharged DOHC 4.6.
I used an 04 Aviator engine with a custom intake manifold upper plenum.
There are a whole load of stuff which needs to be done in order to do the swap.
For the time, fabrication and money, if you simply bought a Roush blower system for your 2 valve, you would most likely be happier in hindsight.
Your current motor will have no problem with a blower with that amount of miles on it.
You could buy some insurance with a set of ARP head studs, Felpro head gaskets and HV oil pump and pick up tube.

Now I also sell engine parts, I do have a set of rare eight thread spark plug hole PI 2 valve heads.

Mike Dunn did one in his truck as well as adding a whipple supercharger.

a navigator 5.4 complete engine with wiring harness would be a pretty straight forward swap (just add a tune, 90mm MAF, 24# injectors)

PM me if you are interested, I have a write up

Both good info, I really would like to put the 4.6 4v in just for the fact it would be different (and the 4v's respond so much better to add ons)...BUT i'm starting to realize what a pain it would be...any suggestions on a tried and true heads, cams, supercharger setup to reach the 500 mark on a 2v motor with a built bottom end?

Built block, stage 2 or 3 ported heads, cams,Lightning intake assembly with a Lightning upgraded blower. Kenne Bell or Whipple!
And of course you'll need all the fuel upgrades,Plus a very well built tranny or a 4R100.
