You have to make sure you change the fluid and filter on the transmissions atleast every 60k miles. 30k if it takes you a long time to put on those miles.

People that never change their transmission fluid usually get like 140k out of their ford transmissions. I'm sure alot of those miles were really crappy shifts.

That and change your rear end fluid/coolant atleast 100k miles. Or like 5 years if you don't put on that many miles.

Nailed It!!! That's exactly what happens and what I'm talking about. Good post!

What's that in your sig pic on pg 1 ? ~ Throw that back , it's not keeper. Cast a few more times , who knows, you may just hook a real Truck.

That dexcool carp that GM in used/uses is pretty nasty stuff. Most people never have a problem with it as long as it gets changed every few years. If left in too long are seals, water pump, radiator, head gaskets etc will need to be replaced.

I'm with quintin on this one. Every auto maker has their know failures. My 2005 5.4 has the beginnings of a leak which appears to be the rear main. It started at about 30k miles, so there goes the theory of 5.4's don't leak. I'm just hoping my injectors don't stick and leave me on the side of road sometime. Besides that I would not own another truck, it's not perfect but it gets the job done.

That's the way it's set up, guy. Sigs should only get posted once awhile, like once or twice in a thread maybe. They take up space and you really don't need to see the same picture, on the same page 5 or 6 times uknow.

My 4.6 leaded from the head gasket Early Production MY 2000. My 5.4 leaks from both head gaskets 1999 MY. Ford fixed the 4.6 but the 5.4 was a Swap engine and not covered. But it doesn't burn oil. One of these day's I will get around to fixing it. Neal gave me a set of gaskets and the TTY bolts. Thanks Neal...

Regards

Geeze - Am I the only one that can hold my fluids , oh AND compression (most of the time ) ?

That might be short lived . At 248,000 miles my 5four started ticking real loud on the passenger side. That's a noise I never heard this engine make. Sooo, I have to figure this out - Time for PI's maybe.
