Another New IACV
Another New IACV
162k on the LOML's '97 Expy (5.4L).
The IACV finally stopped responding to shots of carb cleaner and love taps from a breaker bar. This time it had stuck for good.
So, now she's running with the 3rd unit. This one from Advance Autoparts, with the BWD (Borg-Warner) brandname. $55 out the door.
Installation (and removal) was a snap, other than you've got to lay on top of the engine, and are restricted to using an 8mm combination wrench. And the vacuum hose is oxidizing, so you get black mung all over your forearms.
And, just as I was putting the last tug on the top bolt, the wrench came off the bolt, and did a death plunge into the innards of the engine. It's somewhere on top of the block, under the intake manifold.
Now Momma's happy - so everybody's happy!
