Oil change on 04 4.6

Just wondering how much oil it takes, and what kinda oil are you guys using, I always ran mobil 1 synthetic 10w-30 in my performance cars but is that overkill for my factory screw?

A little over six quarts, and use 5W20.

I would just go w/6 quarts. I see allot of these with blown head gaskets. Personally, I think it's because people tend to want to fill them up to the top hash mark on the stick or more. Top hash means MAX - Not full. It calls for 6 qrts , stick with that and scribe your own full line on the stick after she's changed.

Use 5/20

Or read your owners manual and get the information right from the horses mouth...

If you don't have it, here it is online.

6 quarts, Motorcraft Blended 5-20. It's cheap and at 72,000 miles, mine does not use any oil.

Good advice. But has it occurred to anyone that if this guy can't find his owner's manual in the glove box, has waited till 2008 for the first oil change in his '04 model year, has internet access but isn't able to look it up, has a car but can't find his way to the auto parts store for a Hayne's Manual; then he should just go to a dealership to have it done there? What makes any of you think that he can find the engine under the hood?

He could have just bought the vehicle. He could have taken it to the dealership for oil changes before and now wants to do it himself. Or you could be right.

wow you know I figured as I'm sitting at work behind my desk and cruising the forums I would post a question asking what everyone else is using for oil, and figured i'd add on how much does it take. I've prob done more serious wrenching time that half of you *******s that would rather write a paragraph of wiseass remarks so that you can get another post under your belt that either move on and dont say **** or just answer the ****ing question.

I understand how you feel, but just laugh it off. There are always a few that take every opportunity to demonstrate what a wise acre they can be. If you can reply with some humor when you are jabbed, you earn a lot of respect from everyone.
