Dieselling effect

I just bought my 06 XLT with the 5.4 around a month a go and sometimes when i am stopped at idle my truck has a dieseling effect. Is this normal to our trucks or is something wrong. Only thing i have done is put in a K&N replacement filter. But i think it was doing it before i put it in. Any ideas?

if your talking about the tick its most likely the injectors. they are loud on these trucks. can you describe the noise?

I've always thought mine sounded a little diesely as well. I've had it for almost a year and have never noticed anything wrong, per say.

Dieseling is where you shut off the motor and it keeps running without a spark. Doesn't sound to me like your truck is dieseling.

I gotcha... I just didn't want to see you take it in to the dealer and have them check out the wrong problem...

Thanks for looking out for me. Yea i took it to them and explained to them the problem. They're just going to hook it up for some test. They said it might be the cam phasers or the hydrolic valve lash adjusters. But we shall see.
