Dual Fuel Vehicle

Ok, so I buy a new truck. It all goes down the same as the last one, and the time before that. The boys you know wana take a look at as usual. They open every door, look inside. So the open the fuel door and ask: "What's this yellow fuel cap that reads 'E85 / Gasoline'"? I say: "I don't know it's a new truck, who checks the gas cap?"

Sure enough, on the sticker is says: "Dual Fuel Vehicle* Gasoline-Ethanol(E85)"

What did I get here? Is this a plus or a minus? Is it six of one, half dozen of another?

'*Fuel economy when operating on E85 will yield different values than gasoline. See fuel Economy Guide for more information.'

e85 is just an ethonal blend. any gas engine can run on e85, just not pure ethonal. you get worst fuel mileage but it cleans the inside of your fuel tank and you will need to carry a fuel filter with you because thats where all the crap goes. but its a little bit cheaper than gasoline.

Its an option that you have to pay for, and you actually have no option...other than not buying the truck.

I don't see any indication anywhere that I paid extra for flex fuel, and the base price is the same as the two other trucks I considered.

Do they do anything different for the flex fuel engine?

I have to drive 10 miles to find an E85 pump, but I hear the price may be as much as a dollar per gallon cheaper. I'm on my second tank running 13.3 mpg (city) with the 20" wheel option. I think the low numbers are due to the larger wheels.

There are a lot of e85 pumps in Minnesota. One in six e85 pumps are on the state of Minnesota. Something like 300 of 1660 locations.
