I want some opinions on the spark plug issue and my plans. I am going to change mine out at 50,000 and I am at 43,000 and I was thinking of moving up to 93 octane to help clear up any carbon around the plugs.. How about some input.
I am running the 04 5.4 3V and have read all the stories.

If you don't have a tune for 93, you will be adding carbon and wasting money. What you want is a good detergent gas. Chevron, Shell, Texaco, Conoco. Run some Techron through it. Running a higher octane than your tune can handle leaves deposits.

I think it is important to run a gas with a good detergent. I had my plugs changed at 65,500. The dealer followed the TSB and had no problems. Also, you can get Techron as an additive at WalMart.

I have both a Troyer and Jusnes 93 octane tune and have always run Sunoco religiously. It will be hard for me to change brands as I have been very loyal but aren't many Shell stations around and I haven't see a Chevron around anywhere. I may have to give BP a try...
I thru the original posting out there to see opinions and weather the higher octane gas would burn cleaner and never gave thought to the detergent additives. I am just looking for opinions on trying to cleanup the plug area before tackling the unknown and dreaded spark plug change.
