Exclamation Engine upgades to 97 F150 5.4

Thinking of doning some engine upgades to my 97 F150 5.4 4x4. I was thinking of getting a set of patriot performance stage 2 PI heads, comp cams, OBX longtube headers with stage 8 bolts, 3in custom stainless exhaust with magnaflow muffler. A S&B cold air intake. Is there anything I need to know about any of these products before i decide to get them? Anything else i should do? The truck has a hypertech and a flowmaster exhaust and a K&N intake.

I would do some homework on the Patriot heads. If you go with PI stock heads over the non PIs thats a 35hp gain. Also look into a custom tune also.

I wouldn't go with a 3" exhaust! It will be a wast of money,,,unless your making 5 or 600 HP.

There have been issues with the Patriot heads,,that was a couple years ago.
I ran a set of Patriot stage 2 heads for about 2 years and never had a problem with them.
Only reason I took um off was to upgrade to a stage 3 head. And I sold the stage 2 heads and cams for $1100 bucks...lol

i think that you would be better off running a custom 2.5'' true dual exhaust setup, w/ dynatech longtubes, high flow cats, x pipe, and maggie muffler(s).
i can't comment on the s and b, i have the air force 1 and it has treated me well.

i have heard mixed things on the patriot heads, do some more reading there.

Ive heard mixed things on the Patroit heads too hopefully Built54 will comment on this thread for ya. I forget who has the better heads but i know theres better out there.

What comp cam's were you thinking? Dont forget the Springs and Those other things i cant rember there name...

Yeah Mini monsters Exhuast set-up will Net you the Most HP/ Ftlbs TQ if you use to big of pipe..like mine *True dual 3"* you will loose about 3-5 Hp/Ft lbs. But i gained bout 30Hp/30Ftlbs from the longtubes so i didnt notice the 3-5 loss from the pipe size. But 2.5" pipe if you have it Y-piped H-piped or X-piped... If its true duals you should run 2.25" Pipe to see/Feel the most power increase...Good luck

eh, 2.25-2.5''= marginal difference. 2.25 slightly better on bottom end, 2.5'' slightly better on the top. some of us like to run WOT all across town, so 2.5'' seemed to suit me better

cams by themselves really won't net too much of a gain. i'd look into getting the fox stage II heads neal has on his truck to go along w/ them. the heads and cams will cost about $4000 if i remember correctly, but neal was pushing 350 rwhp naturally aspirated.

PI head swap

Hi,
I have a set of eight spark plug thread 2 valve SOHC PI heads 2005 casting and a 5.4 PI intake to do the swap.
I've been selling the heads alot to the Lightning crowd.
They come complete with valve covers and timing cover to head bolts.
Please reply if interested
Thanks
