Who's using E85 Ethanol in their truck? (info needed)
We just got our first gas station that carries the E85 and I wanted to see who had experience with using it in their truck. I have a 2006 crew, flex fuel of course. I just wanted to get info like............
Do you just pump it in and go or do you have to do something to your truck first?
Do you run the regular gas below empty?
What is the MPG +/- changes?
I'm not really concerned with performacne but that info would be nice as well.
I did a little research but would like hands on experience comments.

I have an '07 and use some e-85 and some gas -- just depends on where I am.
To your questions --
Yes, you just pump it in. You do not have to do/change anything.
You will notice a MPG difference. Typically, mine is around 25% less with e-85 than with e-10 gas. So, when you see e-85 cheaper, multiply the regular gas price by 75% to see if it is cost-beneficial.
It is a little snappier with e-85, but it won't turn it into a sports truck.
Also note that the owner's manual has a different schedule for using e-85 more than 50% of the time.

I have used E-85 in my 06 Screw since new (just over 65,000 miles now). I would say about 90% of the fuel I run is E-85, and I use 91 when I can't get it.
Before I got my tune I was getting about 11 or 12 city and 15 highway (E85). I am not getting 12 to 13 city and 17 highway on E85 and around 18-19 highway on 91 (city stays about the same). The fuel station by my house is around $1.00 cheaper then even the 87 so for me it makes sense to keep running it, but some places I have gone it is only 25 or 30 cents cheaper. If your only doing it for economical reasons then I recommend figuring out your milage on both and calculating the saving based on current price each time you fill it to see if it is worth it.
And yes, it is just pump and go no matter what % of gas you have in the tank. As for performance, they claim it adds a few HP, but I honestly can't tell a difference.

I've been running E85 since my truck was new in 07 and had nor problems. Your mileage will drop but the truck will run smoother and have a little more power on E85.
I just gas and go no matter how much is in the tank at the time I fill up. The PCM will figure it all out for you so you will be fine.
Try it and see what you think. You will not hurt a thing.
