battery wires

wasnt getting answers in my other thread so i figured some of you guys would know in here since its related to the engine

i am trying to do the big 3 upgrade on the power and ground wires so my voltage doesnt go so low well i have a 2001 5.4l and the stock terminals that are on the pos wire that connects to the battery i cut off and there isnt much wire to connect back to my new terminals i bought

so i was wondering the wire that runs off the pos battery that runs under the engine to the back of the truck wat does that run and how can i make that wire longer so its not so tight on the terminal and ready to slip off

or can i not worry bout connecting that wire since the other pos wire goes to the relay or w/e it is by the firewall

Well, sorry to hear that you cut the wire too short.

I have a 1000 watt kicker under the seat, and, voltage (was an initial worry with a 10 year old tryck) hasn't dropped at all, with stock terminal connectors. Shew, I couldn't imagine what would happen if there was more kaboom in that truck. I would be more deaf than I am now. LOL

And, I am having a blonde moment, but, could you explain the "big 3"? (for us slow folk please)

big 3 you upgrade the pos alt to batt connection or run all new wire your self and leave stock wiring

then you run a new wire for your batt to chasis and the 3rd part is your chasis to your engine

you do the wiring it big wire as possible i am using 1/0 its to help voltage drops

this will explain better

You are aware that all of them grounds are already on your truck, right?

If you are worried about keeping your voltage at a norm, and, keeping the amp(s) rockin, you need a capacitor. Much easier than screwing up your battery cables and such.

Check it out:

a capacitor does nothing in most apps check out the car audio forum and you will see upgrading the stock wires will help voltage since stock is like 8 guage or so and doesnt allow alot of current through
