P0401 and P0402

Okay so my EGR Flow is both Insufficient and Excessive. Would this have anything to do with me stripping one of the bolts on my IAC? Or should I just replace my DPFE? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!!

haha don't want to start yet another one of these topics so I'll half jack this one...

Got the p0401 after I bought a new EGR valve cleaned the ports and everything, so it must be the dpfe right?

must be DPFE night!

been dealing with a rough running engine after new plugs and general maint. Finally got the P0401 code - insufficient EGR flow. Pulled the EGR valve and it looks clean. Inlet port is a little pitted, but almost no carbon buildup. DPFE nipples look a little corroded.

98 E350 van, 95Kmiles. I'm thinking its the DPFE too. Unfortunately, its 9:30 at night, no stores open and the van is all pulled apart in my driveway.

Oye.

Yes, replace it. Be prepared for other faults but the sensor needs to be replaced first.

Buy only the Motorcraft replacement.

how come only Ford/MC?

the local stealer-ship is quoting me $140 for the DPFE. Local shops, Pep Boys, Autozone, have Borg-Warner, and store brand for about $50.

RockAuto online has the ford for $65 or so + shipping

Why only FOMOCO? Any problems with aftermarket?

The aftermarket ones aren't reliable. Use Ford only. Order it through an online discount Ford Dealer.

This was posted earlier in another thread.

Sorry never went to a ford dealer and bought parts before, I always buy aftermarket so I didn't know their "name brand" was motorcraft so that was real stupid of me....well went and bought one for 79.95 from the dealer and the CEL didn't come up so far...

Ahhhhh

the sweet sound of a happy engine. My wife picked up the part for 114 from Ford. Ugh. Whats up with those guys? The new DPFE is plastic, but definately a FOMOCO part. Put it in hooked everything back up and voila. Purrs like a kitten.
