Amsoil or Royol Purple

Does anyone recommend one over the other or just any oil picked up at the local Walmart?

Also, any truth to the myths I've heard about not changing tranny fluid or you'll need a new one after 5000m. I think this is for higher milage vehicles but it was right at 5200m on my dads truck.

Not true, never heard of such a thing - That's because you made it up ..- You must be a troll

What do you do to them to cause failure @ 5200 miles ?

Are you guys into neutral slams? Or maybe take turns seeing how fast you can go in first, then reverse ???

I'm in Indiana right now, can I watch?

I was refering to a vehicle that has 40-50k on it and has never had the tranny fluid changed. about 5k afterwards it fails. I've heard it does and it doesn't.

I was only into the neutral slams with my old Buick when i was 16.

Im not sure which oil is better because i use gtx but as far as the tranny the fluid should be good until 100k unless u submerged the vehicle or if u tow. But i have a buddy who went 270k until his tranny failed do to not servicing it.

I dont know what u mean by that statement?

Royal Purple for me, works well and when it comes to something as simple as oil, I'll pay the little extra and be happy with it.

Krazyballer, cool truck, not sure about your choice of sled though....

your transmission is not going to fail 5000 miles after you hit 40k-50k, unless of course you beat the **** out of it.

Are you talking about the tranny flushes? There is a difference in that instead of just a fluid change.

As for oil, RP!

Oh alright. You must mean a flush then ?? Well I'll guess that's what you mean. Anyway , it's better to get that fluid exchange service vrs. the flush IMO. If you just follow the service recommendations on the 4r70w (if that's what you have, you don't say.)
- Then you should never need a flush or an exchange. You drain the pan only. That's the best way IMO , but you have to do it - every 30 thousand at least . UNLESS you run AMSOIL. That stuffs in a class by itself. I don't know about Royal Purple, never tried it. That Amsoil surprised me - It's worth the extra $$$ for these transmissions. No Bullsh^t...

.....or not changing the fluids.

Those transmissions were going to fail anyway due to lack of maintenance. There is no way that you can make a transmission last longer by neglecting maintenance.

Follow your Maintenance Schedule.

We've all seen this Amsoil vs Royal Purple vs Mobil 1 vs Red Line vs Eneos vs blah, blah, blah.

Can we accept that the big name synthetics are all good, and will be better in your engine than an off brand mineral oil? Funny how on HorsePower TV on the Spike Channel, they always compare Royal Purple to O'Reilly's brand motor oil, not one of the leading synthetics.

If anyone is curious, for the record, I use both Royal Purple & Lucas Oil.
