What the hell?

Filled my 04 Scab 5.4L 4x4 w/ 93 octane, went 65 miles refilled with 2.5 gallons=26 mpg. Went another 144 miles and filled it again w/ 93..

6.5 gallons=22+mpg.

The first mileage was an average of 40 mph on flat roads, the next was a trip up and over a notch and back averaging a speed of 45 mph. I was very easy on the throttle and let it coast whenever possible and never let it go over 2000 rpms while shifting.

I'm surprised after reading all the other mpg readings from others on this site.

It is possible I suppose...

That's pretty good. Is your truck tuned to run 93 octane ?

My truck is all stock w/ 77,000 miles. This is very careful, easy, but boring driving. I usually get 15-17 mpg on 87 while driving without concern for economy.

Thinkin of the Edge for my next economy upgrade.

Yea , I don't believe in running fuel which isn't recommended for the motor. I think the edge tuner is only good for stock applications, but limits you to that. I like the looks of it tho. I believe with the Edge you can tune it to run Premium.

My truck seems sluggish on 87, and a poor mpg shows. 93 seems to work for me and I'll keep it up until I see a dropoff in mpg/performance. Maybe my next tank I'll fill it w/ 87 and drive it easy and see what the calculator says...

Well , I did a little reading and I guess others have gotten more out of there tanks of fuel running Premium - better performance as well.

Then others saying your just throwing your money out the window.

At one time I heard it was bad for the engine - But our engines IMO NOW, should be able to take advantage of Premium petrol - The Timing advances on it's own to adjust for the slower burning fuel.

I might try it.
