Oil Pressure - Did I hurt it???

So, a regular old filter change on my F150 went bad. Gasket stuck on the filter mount, new filter went on, with - two - gaskets. Tightened the filter up, started her up, oil pressure gauge read normally. Every other time I've changed the filter, I check for the gasket - but for whatever reason, I didn't this time (I was BS'ing with the neighbor while doing the change).

I finished up at night and drove it up and down the block, no warning lights (again, it was at night, so a warning light would have been obvious).

But then, when I pulled back into the garage, I noticed a pool of oil on the floor (not much - maybe 1/8 qt). Looked up under the truck, removed filter, found two gaskets... replaced with another fresh filter and ONE gasket. (and cleaned the driveway - that was the most aggravating part...)

I know I'm being worrisome, but I'm wondering if I could have done any damage by running the engine for 30 seconds up and down the block? I don't know the layout of the oil system on this engine - ie, does oil flow from the pump to the filter to the engine, or from the pump to the engine to the filter? I assume if the pressure dropped low enough to do any damage, an idiot light would have come on - no lights. Everything runs and sounds totally normal.

30 seconds at what 15-25 mph no worries no issues just because you drained the oil, it still has a film in the engine to protect it at startup so I think you are pretty safe

Well, I checked the stick before I started it, right at the full mark. After the (second) filter change, it was only down about 1/2 way on the OK area of the stick. 1/2qt took it back to full. There is no way there was 7 quarts of oil on the ground. 1/4 quart, maybe.

I think it is safe to say you are alright.
Do you put a lightcoat of oil on top of your rubber seal before you put your filter on, as it will usually stop this problem

Always have, always will - this is the first one I've ever had stick.

Heck, I didn't evan start checking for a stuck gasket until I read some horror stories about fires on CR-V's last year.
