Cam Phaser

Hi -

Looks like I have the dreaded Cam Phaser problems w. my 2004 SCrew.

Two quick questions:

1. Is it covered on warranty. I beyond the 3/36 but I have an extended BASE care warranty 6 year 60K and I am at 47,500 now.

2. What does it cost if it is not covered on the warranty.

Should I try multiple dealers for the fix? (I know that is a third question, answering this one is optional). Thanks.

It's not covered after the base 3/36 warranty expires.....

We charged almost 8 hours for a customer pay job to do both sides plus put in new lash adjusters...I don't remember the exact final figure but it was up there......

Thanks for the reply.

I was at the dealer yesterday and they are ordering the parts to do the job Wed. - fortunately it is covered under the extended warranty. $50.00 deductible is a lot easier to swallow.

Hopefully it is just the phaser and not lashers and or lifters - but I guess if one is covered the other would be covered as well. Thanks.

What extended warranty coverage do you have?

cam phasers

I was told they won't cover it under the extended warranty unless there is a problem caused by the phasers. I have the 100,000 mile warranty.
