Question F 150 Engine Problem

I have a 2000 F 150 that keeps cutting out when I drive. It does not do it continually, but tends to do it:
- right after it rains
- after the truck has been driving about 5 minutes
- going up inclines (does not do it as much going down hill)

It does not affect the starting of the engine, but it does make it harder to accelerate when it is acting up. I have had all the plugs replaced, 4 of the cylindar coils replaced, have added injector cleaner and Heet (takes water out of your gas).

I can't seem to isolate what the problem is. I have taken to a garage to look at it and since it doesn't cut out all the time they can't always catch it acting up and the problem does not trigger the check engine light and record the problem on the engine computer.

Anyone with similar issues or any ideas?

Sounds like you have 4 more coils to be replacing. What plugs were installed, when you had them replaced?

Also, if dielectric grease wasn't used when re-installing the COP's, you will run into the same troubles.

You can pick up 8 new COP's on ebay for 100 bucks and that will put them right at your door.

Had the Same Problem with my 2000. Found out that there was water all around the COP, and the spark plug. Blew it out with some air and let it sit over night. Everything after that was good.

So check for some water around there.

The plugs were replaced with Motorcraft platinum. In the past when a coil has gone bad it has caused the Check Engine light to go on... but that has not happened this time.

Could be - But it's probably a coil, I would just replace them all . Low grade misfires aren't picked up by the monitor. Usually you need Primary or Secondary failure to generate a MIL.

Quite a few members , including myself has had good luck w/these. -
