Engine died like i was out of gas...

But the guage says i've got about 1/8th of a tank... Now it won't start, like i'm out of gas. Turned everything off (lights, radio, A/C), and it turns over, and it feels like it's trying to start, but its like it doesn't have fuel to do it.

I've never had a problem with the gas guage before, or the truck dieing like this. But the truck is 9 years old, so maybe it's off, and i am actually out of gas... which i'll try when i can find someone to take me to the station... Question is if this could be a bigger problem?

Could this possibly be related to an auto transmission? I have had problems when it's in OD (only when I'm going 45-55 MPH), sputters and kicks like when you try to start a manual tranny in 3rd gear...

Thanks for the help!
Robert

If you run your fuel gauge that low very often you should probably think about checking the fuel pump. The fuel in the tank cools the pump and with the price of gas going up alot of people are running their tanks low and their fuel pumps are going out. Just a something you should check on.

They only run so far when the light comes on....

That's a low grade misfire - time for plugs and cops.

Change your fuel filter and put 5 gallons of gas in the tank.

Yea, misfiring RIGHT AFTER you hit OD ~ That's these coils favorite spot to cut out when they get old. I would update them ASAP. If you have more than 50,000 on the plugs, you might as well change those too.
