ECM Differences from 02 Supercrew and 03 Lightning

Can anyone help me out with the ECM pin input differences from an 02 supercrew and an 03 lightning. And will the lightning computer work with a 4R70W transmission. I did a complete lightning motor swap to my supercrew that was originally a 4.6L and kept the 4R70 trans (beefed up and with an aftermarket converter) I am having some tuning issues with the original ECM and was wondering if I bought a Lightning computer would it help me with my woes....Any input would be appreciated.

you need to run the same computer as your transmission.

You need to have your current computer tuned for the current engine prior to starting the truck otherwise you may break something. IF you are doing the tune yourself and are not experienced I suggest that you get someone who has tuned this swap before to help you at least get a baseline tune

what kind of tuning device do you have?

The Lightning computer will not work the 4R70W!

I put a Lightning motor in my truck and had the stock computer tuned for it.
Then I put in a 4R100,,,and had to run the L computer to operate the tranny!

Yea, I am finding out now that the ECM needs to be the one that runs the trans. Thats the one we are trying to tune with the XCAL II. The ECM was accepting tunes and changes before I put the lightning motor in, but now it keeps giving us problems when we try to upload tunes to it. As soon as we load a tune or change a parameter, the truck doesn't run right, it starts idling really rough and doesn't stay on. If we disconnect the battery cable for a few minutes, it clears it all up. When we return the tune to stock, it does the same thing until we disconnect the battery cable. My tuner thinks its a memory problem with my computer, with the KAM. But I wonder why it started doing this all of a sudden, when it was fine when I had the 4.6L in there. I am just trying to avoid having to pay for a new computer if that isn't the issue. Any input?

not wanting to insult you but did you return the computer to stock tune prior to the swap? or is there a custom tune loaded in the computer??

maybe a ford dealer could test the 4r70 PCM for free???

What wiring harness did you use? The Lightning's or the SuperCrew's? Did your tuner download tables from a Lightning PCM or is he using the 4.6 tables?

Not insulted at all, but yes, I returned the computer to stock before taking my XCALII to get the startup tune loaded in it, so the ECM was stock when I loaded my first startup tune. It cranked on the first shot, and ran like a top. The issue didn't arise until my tuner had it on the dyno the first time and tried to open up the rev limiters, thats when it started running rough.

JMC, I used the original harness from the 4.6L I had to lengthen a couple of wires, like the IAC and the single IAT, but other than that, everything else was right where it was supposed to be. I grabbed key power from the cruise control harness for the IC pump.
