To carb, from EFI

I got this 87 F-150 Supercab from my dad about a year ago, and the trouble I had with it to start was immense. I am wanting to change over my 5.0 EFI to a regular carb. The emissions were all screwed up and vaccuum hoses not in the right places when my dad got it back from having the block changed out. There are wires everywhere under the hood. I am not a mechanic by no means. Would anyone suggest what I am doing is a good thing?

Only if you don't have emissions inspection, you pull the cats, and put a mechanical distributor in it. In other words, complete old school, bypass the ECU completely.

Luckily we don't have inspections in Florida anymore. Old school engine is what I am going for. I have found a crome intake, just have to get the carb.

A properly jetted and set up carb and a properly curved distributor is going to run damn good though. Full old school, block off EGR, etc.

The early EFI with all the extra hoses and basically the same junk that came on a carbed engine is pretty awful.

This is about the only time I'd say to go carb...
