Engine Problems
Engine Problems
Hi,
I have a 2005 F150 Scab 5.4. The problem that I am having is when ever I have to step on it to pass or sometimes when I have to get on the highway and need to floor it for a second it seems to misfire or something and the engine light flashes for a couple mins and then everything returns to normal. Any idea what is wrong?
I am out of fac. warranty (I got 45K) but I do however have the 6yr./75k powertrain warranty. Is this somthing that would be covered under the powertrain warranty? Could this be the stuck fuel injector problem I got a recall thing for? Let me know because if this is under warranty I want to get it fixxed. If its not under warranty the dealer charges a $102 diagnosis fee. If its not under warranty I might want to fix it myself as I dont have alot of free cash as of this moment.
This problem usally doesnt affect me since I dont have to step on it very often. I know that my truck is not a race machine and dont want you guys to think that I am trying to run the ***** of my truck becuase that is not the case at all. Any help would be greatly appriciated!!!!
Thanks
Josh

A flashing CEL means your getting a misfire. If you have the recall letter for the injectors, go get them swapped out. That very well could be your problem. I would also advise you get your plugs changed, but, READ UP ABOUT IT HERE FIRST PLEASE. (that is if you are not familliar with the plug issues with your model)
Go to your local parts store and get the codes read and post back. Should be FREE. And make sure when they read it to get the ACTUAL CODE, not listen to the BS they are going to blow up your rear...

Yea, take it in Josh - The 05 especially is known for injector problems and it will get worse if that's what is going on. Could be flooding out one cylinder from a sticky one and flooding that plug out. That could lead to more problems in the near future - O2's are effected as well as the converters.
A blinking light fault is a dedicated misfire on one or more cylinders . Even tho the " MIL" or "CEL" fails to stay illuminated, you still should have a fault code set. You might want to get that read free at Auto Zone first to reveal the bad cylinder. You could also have a plug falling apart inside your engine - so I wouldn't wait with this problem - Ford isn't standing behind there F^ck up in allot of cases. So get right on it before matters become worse.
EDIT - - Listen to Doc ^^^^^ - Doc , you posted before I finished mine, but yea , the 05 model year is one you don't wait on . Find the source and get it taken care of.
