Swap
It's something I'm not interested in from the standpoint of MpG. I can understand the want for a little more Hp, but for the loss in economy (I've heard the 5.4 is a real gas hog--if I'm wrong--PLEASE correct me, as I'm going to be needing to rebuild my 4.6 soon and if I can get better mpg in a 5.4, that'll be the time to do the swap) I'm getting about 17.5 mpg out of my 4.6 now, and overhauling my 4.6 will gain me some Hp, as well as improve my mpg. I personally figure that's the way to go.

Is this in a truck or expedition? I had an expy with the 5.4 and I could get about 20 on the highway but in stop and start driving or country roads I only got about 15. The expy is much heavier than a truck so a truck would do much better.
There is very little difference in fuel economy. Either engine has to pull the same mass.. The larger displacement can actually make it more efficient so it really become sthe same with the benefit of having more power.. If I had a 4.6 and needed a new motor I'd do the swap for sure.
