Stuff to ensure long engine life

Just picked up an 02 with the 5.4 with 88k miles. Wondering if there is any mods or anything to increase engine life other than just normal oil and air filter change? I plan on owning this truck as long as I can, and want to protect the engine as much as possible.

Just wondering how long you really think you can own the truck. It already has 88,000 miles. That's why the last owner got rid of it. Right? It's actually hard to say. Everybody drives different. If you don't abuse it, a truck could last for many decades. I still see trucks out on the road from the 80's. No "mod" will make the truck last longer if you don't take care of it. Just stay on top of maintenance, and keep your fingers crossed. A lot of things will be recommended. All you're worried about is the engine life? You don't care about the rest of the truck? If you plan on keeping the truck for a long time, then also think about the transmission, gear box, transfer case, fuel system, brakes, blah, blah, blah.
