Couldent get an accurate answer before, so here goes...

I have a 1993 F-150 XLT 5.0L V8 (automatic)

When i get to very high RPM's (like 3400-4200) i hear...what i can only discribe is something that sounds like a VERY loud dripping sound, A friend of mine (who i dont think knows much about cars) said its lifter tap.

An also right before the trans goes from 1st to 2nd gear, an i left off the gas before it does, i hear it again. What do you think it is? Is it the tq converter? The engine has under 72K miles on it.

Any ideas?

im gonna go out on a HUGE limb here and say change the belt. just go to autozone and pick one up. see if that helps. if it doesnt then youre only out a few dollars.

if the noise stops then invest in a gatorback belt. unless you can find one at a local store.

belt was changed last month, ford changed it. It was still making the noise before the new belt. Its not the compressor kicking on. An i had ford look at it an they swear it never makes a sound....
